Saraswatichandra buys a single ticket to Mumbai. A stranger asks, “Going home?”

“Saras…”

Slow motion: Rain. Lightning flashes. Through the iron gates, she sees a figure – wet, tired, but unmistakable. Saraswatichandra.

enters, graceful but sad. She wears a simple saree, no jewelry except a thin mangalsutra (though they aren’t married yet – in this show, it’s a promise thread). She touches Saraswatichandra’s portrait gently.

Inside, Kumud is alone in the courtyard, singing a bhajan. She stops. She feels someone watching. She turns.

“Beta, are you decorating that swing for Krishna… or for him?”

“Krishna always brings his devotees back home, Father. Even the lost ones.”

He doesn’t move. He just looks at her. She walks slowly toward the gate. Her hand reaches through the bars. Their fingers touch. Through the iron gates, she sees a figure

“You will not marry Kumud. I have arranged your alliance with the Desai family. You will obey me!”

“Then come inside and take me with it.”

“I cannot, Father. Kumud is not just a girl. She is the question to every answer I have. If I cannot marry her, I will marry no one.”
