You start 4-1 blind, forcing you to waste sun on cheap defensive plants just to see what’s coming. Once you realize you need vision, the Plantern becomes essential. Dropping one in the middle column lifts the veil and gives you back control. It’s a perfect tutorial-by-failure.
The fog mechanic is the star here. Rolling in from the right side of the screen, it hides the approaching zombies until they’re dangerously close to your lily pads. For the first time, you can’t just set up your kill zone and relax. You have to listen. The squelch of a Buckethead or the distinctive groan of a Conehead becomes your only warning.
