More cards arrive. Clubs, Spades, Hearts. Each one a mission: a lonely old woman, a battered young mother, a violinist who’s forgotten how to play. Ed becomes a phantom. He fixes a gutter, leaves a note (“You’re not invisible”), pays a stranger’s overdue bill. He expects nothing. But the cards keep coming.

Ed’s friends notice the change. Marv calls him a fool. Ritchie laughs. Audrey (played with quiet fire) watches him differently. One night, she corners him. AUDREY: “You’re not doing this for them, Ed. You’re doing it because you’re afraid of what happens if you stop.” ED: “What if I’m just the errand boy for some psycho?” AUDREY: “Then at least you’re running.” Ace of Hearts. No addresses.
