Danny walks over. For a terrifying second, he looks like he might swing. Instead, he pulls Carter into a fierce, broken hug.

Present. The print shop is Danny’s new life—sober, quiet, painting signs. Carter enters. Danny walks over

: “I’ve been in love with you for three years. I lied because I was terrified. You’re the most honest person I know, and I built a wall of lies to protect myself from wanting you. I’m sorry.”

Carter laughs through tears. Leo watches from the alley, then melts into the shadows. : “I knew, sweetheart

(to himself): “All it took was a dare. So here’s mine: I’m not a hero. I’m a kid who broke someone’s trust and never stopped running.”

Silence. Jasmine’s smile falters. Carter’s eyes flick to Maya. Maya stares at the city lights.

(softly): “So what now?”

: “I would have done the same to you. That’s what makes us brothers. Now get out before I cry in front of the turpentine.”
